MURDER CHARGES - DISMISSED 2023

Ms. Grout won a huge victory in getting her client's murder charges in Cobb County dismissed as self-defense in a case that made the news in June of 2023. Her client was wrongly accused of murder after a confrontation at a gas station resulted in the death of a woman. Ms. Grout was able to prove to a judge that her client acted in defense of his family and that the others involved were the aggressors. Upon the judge's order, her client had all charges against him dropped and he was able to return home to his family.

MURDER CHARGES - DISMISSED 2023

Client was charged with Felony-Murder in conjunction with the tragic shooting death of his uncle by another man. Ms. Grout and her co-counsel worked to convince the prosecutors that the video evidence demonstrated only that her client was at the scene with a weapon but was not an active participant in the events that led to the shooting death of their client's uncle. The State finally relented, and the murder charges were dismissed. Ms. Grout's client was released from jail and on to probation for other charges.

DRUG TRAFFICKING  - REDUCED 2023

Client arrested for trafficking methamphetamine was facing many years in prision. After a thorough investigation by Ms. Grout, it was revealed that the police had made errors in their investigation and the testing of the drugs. The client's charges were reduced and he was given a probation sentence. 

VEHICULAR HOMICIDE  - DISMISSED 2023

Client was accused of being the driver in a case where a severe accident resulted in the death of someone else in the car. After a year of investigation into the crash, including DNA testing of car air bags and research of the accident scene, Ms. Grout succeeded in getting the prosecution to agree they could not prove her client was the driver of the car. As a result, the prosecutor agreed to dismiss the vehicular homicide charges.  Her client pled to a lesser charge based on her client fleeing from the scene on foot after the crash. 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT - DISMISSED 2023

Ms. Grout's client was accused of pointing a gun and threatening people in a parking lot. Upon review of the shopping center surveillance footage, Ms. Grout was able to demonstrate to the prosecutors that the alleged victims' actions on video was not consistent with the story they told the police. The State agreed and reduced Ms. Grout's client's charges to misdeameanors with just probation.  

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT - DISMISSED 2022

Client charged with assaulting his girlfriend had his charges dismissed entirely after Ms. Grout got the police officer to admit during cross examination that the officer could not properly identify Ms. Grout's client as the person alleged to have committed this crime. 

VIOLATION OF PROBATION, IMMEDIATE RELEASE AND PROBATION TERMINATED - 2022

 A single mother was being held in the jail following her arrest on a probation violation warrant that was 9 years old that she didn't even know existed. Ms. Grout was able to arrange for her immediate release and an order terminating all years left on her probation, within days of her family contacting Ms. Grout.   

FELONY FALSE STATEMENT and THEFT OF SERVICES DISMISSED - 2022

Client charged by an over-zealous detective with 2 felonies and 2 misdemeanors for rightfully seeking publicly available information through the Open Records Act. Client was accused of committing theft for having less than $100 in unpaid copying charges to the county - a portion of which had never even been billed to him. Through investigation and working with the district attorney, Ms. Grout was able to get the entire warrant dismissed. 

GANG AND WEAPONS CHARGES DISMISSED - 2021

Client was charged with violating the Georgia Street Gang Act and unlawfully transferring a firearm as part of a multi-county investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations. Following an extensive review of the GBI's case file, Ms. Grout was able to prove to the prosecutor that no charges could be successfully brought in Cobb County for her client. All charges against her client were subsquently dismissed. 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT / TERRORISTIC THREATS / CRUELTY TO CHILDREN - 2021

Client facing aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and cruelty to children after a fight with a family member allegedly with a weapon. Ms. Grout was able to get the aggravated assault charge dismissed at probable cause after cross-examining the police officer and proving the knife was never used offensively against the victim. Ms. Grout was later able to get the rest of the felony charges reduced to misdemeanors. Client was facing a maximum of 26 years in prison. Thanks to Ms. Grout, client was sentenced to 3 years of misdemeanor probation.

THREE DIFFERENT MISDEMEANOR CASES DISMISSED IN THREE WEEKS - 2021

Ms. Grout was able to get three different clients' misdemeanor cases dismissed all within the span of three weeks in the fall of 2021. Thanks to a good working relationship with the prosecutors, Ms. Grout was able to provide information that proved none of these clients had any kind of anger or violent issues, and were not worthy of criminal charges. Prosecutors agreed and were willing to dismiss the charges in all three cases. 

BAIL JUMPING / ABANDONMENT - 2021 

Client charged with a misdemeanor case of child abandonment and a felony case of bail jumping for allegedly abandoning a biological child and leaving the state in 2015. Ms. Grout investigated the allegations and was able to show that the case paperwork was factually impossible and that his ex's claims could not be true. Both cases were then dismissed and the client was released from the jail.

FELONY DRUGS / WEAPONS POSSESSION - 2021

Client charged with possession of cocaine, possession of weapon during commission of felony, and giving a false name. Ms. Grout was able to acquire the video of the arrest prior to the case being indicted. The video revealed the police had misrepresented in the warrant what actually occurred during the arrest and had violated her client's 4th Amendment rights as well. Based on these findings, Ms. Grout was able to get the prosecutor to dismiss the entire warrant. 

AGGRAVATED STALKING - 2021

Client charged with 3 felony counts of aggravated stalking with a maximum exposure of 30 years in prison, plus an additional misdemeanor for violating a temporary restraining order. When Ms. Grout took over the case, client was being held in jail without bond. Ms. Grout successfully demonstrated to the court, through her own investigation into prior police reports, that the victim's pattern of exaggeration and retracted claims made her story unreliable. Judge granted the client a signature bond (at no cost) and client was released from the jail. After additional investigation, Ms. Grout was able to get the misdemeanor and 2 of the 3 felony cases dismissed entirely. Client is now on probation for a single count, and can terminate probation in three years with no conviction on his record.

KIDNAPPING - 2021

Client charged with Kidnapping and facing a mandatory minimum 25 year prison sentence. Ms. Grout succeeded in getting the case reduced to a single misdemeanor with time served and probation.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT - 2021

Client faced Aggravated Assault charges with prosecutor seeking 5 years in prison and 10 more years on probation. Ms. Grout and her co-counsel succeeded in getting the case reduced to misdemeanors only.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: STRANGULATION - 2021

Client charged with Aggravated Assault Strangulation. Ms. Grout convinced the prosecutor to reduce the charge to a single count of disorderly conduct. Client sentenced to only 12 months of probation and only has to report to probation by phone.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT - 2020

Client charged with Aggravated Assault. Ms. Grout got the charge reduced to single misdemeanor, with 12 months on probation. Subsequently, Ms. Grout filed a motion and succeeded in getting that probation terminated after only 6 months and the client's records sealed.

FELONY DRUG POSSESSION - 2020

Client charged with possession of drugs while on probation. Ms. Grout proved that the police could not link the drug evidence to her client, despite the client having executed a 4th Amendment waiver as part of his probation which gave the police the right to search him. All charges were dismissed.

FELONY DRUG POSSESSION -2020

Client charged with possession of drugs and facing extensive prison time. Ms. Grout successfully argued to the court that the police violated her Constitutional rights during the search for the drug. As a result, all charges were dismissed.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT & FELONY OBSTRUCTION - 2020

Client charged with Aggravated Assault Strangulation and Felony Obstruction. At the probable cause hearing, following Ms. Grout's cross-examination of the officer over the lack of evidence to support these serious felony charges, the Judge agreed to reduce the case to misdemeanors only.

ARMED ROBBERY, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT - 2020

High school student arrested at school and held in jail for 2 counts of armed robbery, 3 counts of aggravated assault and 7 misdemeanors after attending a party at KSU. At the initial hearing, Ms. Grout successfully proved that the police had no evidence to charge the student with anything and that the student had merely attended the party. All charges were dismissed and student was immediately freed from the jail.

DOUBLE MURDER CHARGES DISMISSED - 2017

Ms. Grout and her co-counsel were awarded the 2017 Cobb Bar Association Victory Award for winning an immunity motion in a Double Murder case, where they proved that their client had acted in self-defense when he killed two men. The murder charges against their client were dismissed based on this phenomenal victory.
