Megan has handled legal matters throughout the State of Georgia and is experienced in handling all types of criminal charges. She regularly helps people accused of aggravated assaults, drug-related crimes, DUI's, traffic offenses, theft/shoplifting crimes, and family-related criminal arrests. In 2017, Megan received the Cobb County Criminal Defense Section Victory Award for succeeding in getting a young man's double murder charges dismissed under self-defense laws. In 2023, Ms. Grout was featured in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Marietta Daily Journal and on Fox 5 News for again succeeding in getting a client's murder charges dismissed as self-defense. She also handles serious injury by vehicle, armed robberies, kidnapping, rape, aggravated battery, and other serious offenses.

A 1997 honors graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, Megan also received a Bachelor of Science with honors from Ithaca College in 1992. She has assisted in civil cases heard before the Georgia Court of Appeals, and co-authored legal opinion articles for CNN. She is a graduate of the Bill Daniel Trial Advocacy Program, has served on the long-range planning committee and as a CLE seminar co-chair for the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Megan regularly speaks to local teens and families about Georgia criminal law and how to avoid common mistakes that may lead to an arrest.

Megan has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1997. She is admitted to practice in the United States District Court, the Northern District of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court. She lives in Sandy Springs with her husband Brad and their two children. She's an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan, and is an amateur chef and photographer in her free time.

Megan knows that facing a criminal charge can be frightening and stressful. She understands that the best attorneys are those who aggressively fight for their client while keeping their client informed and involved throughout the process. She often tells her clients that she hates to fly because she can't see what the pilot is doing, and she's always wondering what is happening with the plane during the flight. She understands that being charged with a crime can create those same feelings of fear of the unknown and lack of control. Most people charged with a crime don't understand the criminal process, why things are happening or what their options are. And, they're often scared. This is why Megan believes so strongly in personal direct communication with her clients, keeping them updated and being available to answer their questions. Most importantly, Megan's focus is always on fighting to protect their freedom and their future.
